FlySpace Physical Therapy is a vibrant and evolving clinic located in New York City, specializing in care for performing artists while also welcoming the broader community. Since our founding in 2021, FlySpace has partnered with a range of performing arts companies and schools. Our therapists work not only in our welcoming Upper West Side clinic but also in dynamic off-site settings, such as backstage at theaters or within dance schools, where they often serve as the primary point of care.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Exceptional triage and examination skills suitable for fast-paced, backstage/on-site settings (20-minute sessions)

  • Excellent time-management and adaptability in diverse environments

  • Clear and concise communication with physicians and team members for rapid care decisions

  • Strong manual therapy skills (IPA training preferred but not required)

  • Familiarity with dance terminology and performance-related demands

  • A growth mindset and openness to feedback

  • A passion for lifelong learning and ongoing continuing education

  • A collaborative spirit and commitment to team-based care

RESPOSIBILITIES

  • Conduct thorough exams, evaluations, and treatments in our outpatient orthopedic setting

    • 60-minute evaluations

    • 30–45-minute follow-ups

  • Provide efficient care in off-site settings with 15–30-minute appointments

  • Communicate effectively with physicians and staff regarding patient progress and care needs

  • Contribute 1–2 in-services per year

  • Participate in occasional community outreach events and artist wellness workshops

FlySpace primarily works with performing artists, including Broadway professionals and students, but our services extend to non-performers in our local community. We provide both workers’ compensation care and cash-based services, including specialized pelvic floor therapy through our dedicated team.

Start Date & Scheduling

We are looking to hire:

  • One part-time therapist to begin mid-July to transition to full time in the fall

Please note that some evening and weekend availability may be required, depending on performance contracts and off-site coverage needs.

SALARY & BENEFITS

Full Time:

  • Base salary: commensurate with experience

  • Full-time team members are eligible for our structured bonus schedule, which offers significant earning potential beyond base pay

FlySpace Physical Therapy, established in 2021 in NYC, delivers top-notch care for performing artists. We've built strong ties with arts companies and schools, offering specialized care in theaters, companies, schools, and dance intensives. FlySpace is known for its welcoming, community-centered environment and commitment to continuous learning and excellent patient care. Position Overview: We are seeking Per Diem Physical Therapists with at least 3 years of experience to join our team. This role involves providing on-site care at various performing arts institutions, with a time commitment that will vary based on clinic contracts and clinician availability. Candidates will be strongly encouraged to participate in monthly meetings focused on skill building, communication, and discussions about providing care to performing artists. These sessions will be led by FlySpace Physical Therapists. An Ideal Candidate Will: • Have evening and weekend availability to travel backstage/onsite in Manhattan and Brooklyn. • Have efficient triage and treatment skills. • Demonstrate proficiency in concise communication with doctors and clinic managers. • Have strong manual therapy skills. • Be familiar with Western dance terminology and vocabulary. • Be open to receiving and implementing feedback. • Have a strong passion for learning and active participation in annual continuing education. • Thrive in a collaborative, team-centered environment.
